June, 2010 The Principal’s Corner
Dr. Richard Drolet richard.drolet@cumberlandschools.org
We are nearing the finish line! Some of the highlights for the concluding month of June at NCMS include:
In May we announced the 2009-2010 NCMS Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Rachel Emery. Mrs. Emery uses effective instructional practices, such as using an agenda to clarify classroom procedures and expectations for her students. Mrs. Emery allows students to make up quizzes and tests they might not have done well on. Mrs. Emery frequently conducts hands-on experiments/activities with her students, displays exemplars of student work, invites parents to come observe her classes, and uses an e-mail ListServ to provide updates to parents for her classes. Besides raising four children of her own and also working as a registered nurse, Mrs. Emery also chaperoned the Washington, D.C. and Quebec trips this year. She coached the girl’s soccer team and again coordinated our Variety Show. Mrs. Emery is always open to new ideas. She is always willing to help a lending hand, collegially working with others in the process. Mrs. Emery has selflessly contributed her time, energy, positive attitude, and devotion to NCMS, and we are all better for it!
NCMS will be hosting a Blood Drive from 2-6 p.m. this Thursday, May 27th, in the NCMS cafeteria. Please come donate if you get this in time and you are able to do so.
